Built in 1892, this 3,400 square foot limestone townhouse is only 12'-3" wide on the interior.
The primary challenge during renovation was to craft a design that would allow the house to express every inch of its width.
This was achieved with strategic placement of the house's mechanical systems: the radiators were integrated into the floors and window frames and sprinkler pipes were integrated into the walls and ceilings.
The high ceilings and 8 foot door heights were restored in order to express the vertical sense of the space and the original stairway was restored and its large proportions maintained. This gives one the impression of moving through a much larger house.
